WATER EVERYWHERE
....literally.... most of you know that we live on a hill, but that doesn't seem to matter when you get downpours. We discovered last night that we had water in our basement. Larry decided to look after seeing a pond in our backyard. Sure enough. It was coming in through our window well. There was about 3 inches sitting in there. So this week will be busy--need to get all the drywall and insulation out before it starts to stink!! We've already had 6 inches in 8 days! Correction--Larry informed me I was a little low on the amount of rain. He said he heard that we had 4-6 just this past weekend so lets just say we've had rain--and water is literally everywhere.

What a wonderful day we had. We had some friends over and kids got to spend the hot/humid day outside in a jumper, sprinkler and a kiddie pool. Oh to be a kid again.

Well, not sure where to start. Our company left and the storms came. We had quite a interesting day (weather wise) Around 3:30 we were issued a tornado warning. After what happened here 2 years ago-of course we kind of freaked out when we heard the siren. So here is some of the damage that the storm did. Some it was a tornado others say just really high winds. I'm not sure what to think. Didn't get a picture of the wood play structure that was still intacked just not in the spot that I was suppose to be. (You tell me) Sorry some of these pics are blurry but didn't want to stop to take pics. Bottom Left--notice the electric poles. Most of the area was without power. We were lucky Some on our block are without power. I forget to mention how close this was to us. ONE BLOCK!!!! Click on picture to enlarge it.

Well I just realized that it has been a month since I last blogged. Oh where to begin. We have been pretty busy already this spring. Larry built a raised garden for us and we got that all planted with peppers, tomatoes, peas, beans, onions broccoli and carrots. I just noticed today that the onions are coming. I am so excited to have a little garden and kids are enjoying watching the vegetables grow!
My mom has been giving us a bunch of rhubarb which we have greatly enjoyed. I have frozen a bunch of it to save for making rhubarb sauce. It is excellent over pancakes/waffles. Also a great ambition is to make strawberry rhubarb jam. We'll see how for we get with that. Now we are just waiting for some asparagus.
Two weeks ago we went to Moline IL to the John Deere Pavillion and World Headquarters. It was neat but one time there and that's all you need. The kids absolutely loved it. They got to sit in tractors, combines, backhoes, bulldozers etc...(pictures to come).
I love this time of year to be outside working with my flowers, roses etc... Last week I got all my flowers planted and now it looks like summer outside. Even though this morning we were out in our winter coats and mittens. Summer is going to come....SOMETIME.
Jaden lost another tooth. That make 2 on the bottom. Wonder what his kindergarten pictures are going to look like!
